Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lou Peters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mateusz Mateusz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lou Peters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mateusz Mateusz!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mateusz shoots and misses

and Peters counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Mateusz!
Peters tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Mateusz isn't going anywhere.
Mateusz wants to control but Peters postures up.
Peters scores with a couple of short elbows.
Mateusz is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Peters has just dragged him back down to the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Peters on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Peters tries to get out of the position.
Peters is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Mateusz trying to stand up but can't free himself from Peters's guard.

Mateusz throws a big elbow that misses.

Mateusz postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Peters is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mateusz, into his guard.
Mateusz is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Peters stands and throws Mateusz's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Mateusz is trying to improve his position.
Mateusz manages to get back to half guard.
Mateusz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Peters is working away from the top position though.
Peters looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Peters looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Lou Peters will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Mateusz tries to keep at a distance but Peters has taken the fight into the clinch.
Mateusz prevents a takedown attempt there.
Peters missing with knees to the body.
Peters effectively controlling the action here.
Mateusz tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Peters just stands there and leans against the cage.

Peters breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Mateusz stuffs the takedown attempt from Peters. Peters gets slowly back to his feet.
Peters fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lou Peters. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mateusz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mateusz showed some decent athleticism there.
Mateusz content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Peters is trying to get back to full guard.
Mateusz perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Mateusz wants to stand but Peters has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Peters trying to get back to full guard but Mateusz takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Peters really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mateusz Mateusz has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Mateusz fails in his attempt to clinch.
Peters will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Peters misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
No luck for Mateusz with that takedown attempt.

Mateusz shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mateusz wants to finish this one by submission but Peters is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Mateusz.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mateusz is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mateusz Mateusz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Mateusz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mateusz wants it to stay on the feet.

Peters preventing the sweep.

Mateusz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Peters manages to get himself to full guard.

Mateusz would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Peters looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Peters tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mateusz defends well and Peters ends up having to push Mateusz into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Mateusz tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Peters tries a body shot but Mateusz blocks it.
Mateusz is working for takedown but Peters is calmly controlling the position for now.

Mateusz manages to break the clinch.
Mateusz blocks a low kick nicely.
Peters stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Peters defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mateusz.
Lou Peters has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mateusz Mateusz.
Mateusz looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mateusz moves in looking to clinch but Peters pushes him off.
Lou Peters is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Peters throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Peters shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mateusz's guard.
Mateusz looking for a sweep. Not yet Mateusz, not yet.

Peters got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mateusz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Peters has managed to get both his arms back between Mateusz's legs - danger averted.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lou Peters.
I think Peters has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
