PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Henry Ngo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mirko Boban (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boban has chosen Ana Tijoux - 1977 as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Ngo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mirko Boban!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ngo shoots in for a takedown but Boban shows good takedown defense.
Ngo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Boban moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Boban works the jab nicely.
Ngo shoots for a double leg takedown but Boban sprawls well. He's pushed Ngo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Henry Ngo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Boban thows a left - swing and a miss!

Ngo feints and as Boban raises his hands in defense, Ngo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ngo wants to control from the top but Boban keeps moving.
Ngo slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Boban tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ngo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Ngo looks up at the clock and then as Boban takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Ngo smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ngo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Boban has escaped the position, nice work there.
We've been hearing good reports from Ngo's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Boban tries to buck Ngo off but Ngo is having none of it.
Ngo takes a little break here. Boban wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Ngo decides to stand up, so the ref orders Boban to his feet.

Ngo drives through and clinches with Boban against the cage.

Ngo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Boban moves in looking to clinch but Ngo pushes him off.
Boban shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ngo pinned against the cage. Ngo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Ngo feints and as Boban raises his hands in defense, Ngo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Ngo slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Boban utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Ngo is working Boban over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Boban throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Ngo escapes and throws Boban's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Ngo bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Boban takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Ngo fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Boban to the ground. Ngo is now in Boban's guard.

Ngo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Ngo working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Boban is holding on to half guard well.

Ngo decides to return to a standing position.
Boban stuffs the takedown attempt from Ngo. Ngo gets slowly back to his feet.

Boban tries to sprawl but Ngo drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Ngo is nestled in close to Boban, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Ngo not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ngo content to control rather than advance.

Ngo is trying to control. Boban wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
