Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mao Zedong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Francis Brizuela!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zedong gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Zedong is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Zedong wants to sweep here but Brizuela controlling him for the moment.
Brizuela engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Zedong is on top in guard.
Zedong working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Zedong stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brizuela swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Zedong wants to control from the top but Brizuela keeps moving.
Brizuela is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Zedong is looking for a sweep. Brizuela is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Zedong seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Brizuela seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Brizuela is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Zedong's shoulder. That is not cool.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Zedong is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Brizuela off and has taken his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mao Zedong will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Brizuela shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Zedong napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Zedong is looking to reverse the position.
Mao Zedong overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Zedong might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Zedong wants to control but Brizuela postures up.

Brizuela is looking to take a break and control but Zedong is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mao Zedong will probably get the nod.
That's time! Zedong's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Brizuela scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Let's hope that Brizuela has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Francis Brizuela was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Brizuela shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Brizuela was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Zedong tries to roll over but Brizuela keeps him under control.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Francis Brizuela hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Brizuela closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Zedong tries to bench press Brizuela off him but Brizuela keeps the position.
Zedong tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Brizuela presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Francis Brizuela comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
