Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Handy Couture!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Howard Stern!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stern fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Stern throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Stern misses with a two punch combination.
Couture takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Couture shoots for a takedown but Stern saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Stern rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Couture moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Howard Stern seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stern misses with the combination.
Stern throws a right hand that Couture ducks under and follows up with a left that Couture also avoids with ease.
Couture sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Couture shoots in for a double leg but Stern sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Stern throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Couture.
Couture avoids a punch combination nicely.
Stern shoots and misses
and Couture counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stern won't be happy with that.
Stern wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Couture in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Stern is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Couture asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Stern is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Couture is putting a hurting on Stern here, landing some big shots from side control.
Couture is chipping away with strikes.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Couture is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Stern is trying to escape and Couture transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Stern is forced to tap! Nice work there by Couture! Very nice indeed!
