Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jacob Andersen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Scott! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Andersen with a poor takedown and Scott counters with a series of strikes. Andersen will be more careful next time no doubt. Andersen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Andersen with a lazy takedown attempt and Scott counters with a nice double leg into side control. Andersen won't be happy with that. Andersen manages to get back to half guard. Andersen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Scott pulls his head out easily. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Scott working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Andersen looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Scott working Andersen over with strikes. Andersen actively working from the bottom here. Scott looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. This has been an exciting period of action! Nice strikes from Scott there. Scott really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Andersen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Andersen is staying active underneath Scott, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Andersen is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Scott's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Scott's back! Andersen misses with punches from the back. Scott rolls, trying to escape but Andersen keeps control of the position.
Andersen misses with a punch to the head. Andersen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's one minute gone in the round. Andersen looking to finish the fight with a rear naked choke. Scott is controlling Andersen 's left arm and he spins nicely into guard. Scott not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Scott pushes down on Andersen's leg and manages to get into half guard. Scott is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Andersen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Scott pulls his head out easily. Andersen looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Scott wants to stand up but Andersen is controlling the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Andersen has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Scott. Oh but Andersen has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Scott goes limp - he's gone! Andersen jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
