The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tappura wants to land a leg kick but Nicklaus is out of range.
Tappura cracks Nicklaus with a good jab.
Tappura is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Nicklaus.
Nicklaus takes a swing at Tappura's ribcage but misses.
Jack Nicklaus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tappura throws a leg kick which misses Nicklaus's front leg but catches the back leg as Nicklaus tries to avoid it.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Nicklaus has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Nicklaus lands a big head kick that sends Tappura tumbling to the mat! Nicklaus takes a step backwards and waves Tappura back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Taisto Tappura has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nicklaus connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Tappura is rocked!
Nicklaus fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Oh Tappura is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Tappura turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Nicklaus throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Tappura seems to have got his legs back now.
Tappura attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Nicklaus finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Tappura scores with a head kick.
Tappura uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Nicklaus.
Nicklaus looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Tappura darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
