Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Birdman Lugz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gene Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gene Anderson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Birdman Lugz's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 33 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Birdman Lugz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gene Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lugz tries to clinch there but Anderson circles away.
Lugz fails with an attempt to clinch.

Anderson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Lugz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Anderson pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Lugz has Anderson pressed against the cage, preventing Anderson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Anderson stops a takedown attempt from Lugz.
Lugz lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Anderson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Lugz regains guard immediately.
Anderson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lugz avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Anderson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lugz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Anderson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Gene Anderson.
Anderson swats away the attempt to clinch by Lugz.
Lugz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Anderson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lugz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Anderson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lugz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Anderson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Anderson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Lugz after a bit of a struggle.
Lugz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Anderson walks away with a smile on his face. Lugz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Birdman Lugz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Anderson instigates a clinch.

Lugz is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Anderson struggles to land a body shot inside as Lugz controls his hands.
Lugz goes for a takedown in the clinch but Anderson prevents it.
Anderson stops a takedown attempt from Lugz.
Anderson prevents the takedown attempt.

Anderson successfully pulls guard.
Lugz being controlled here momentarily.
Lugz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Anderson is keeping the position for now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Anderson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lugz is one step ahead there.

Lugz trying to control the position from guard on top but Anderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Anderson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Anderson keeping moving, preventing Lugz from controlling successfully.
Lugz preventing the sweep.
Lugz wants to control from the top but Anderson keeps moving.
Lugz is really struggling to control Anderson but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Birdman Lugz.
Lugz shoots for a takedown but Anderson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Anderson rushes Lugz and presses him up against the cage.

Anderson ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Anderson no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Anderson has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Lugz doesn't defend quickly enough and Anderson has managed to lock this one up! Can Lugz escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Anderson on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Gene Anderson!
