Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carter Yang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Laston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laston has chosen Next Episode- Snoop Dogg as his entrance music. Laston has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yang fails with a takedown attempt.
Yang clinches up with Laston and pushes him back against the cage.
Laston can't break the clinch.
Yang tries to break the clinch but Laston is controlling the position.
Yang wants to get back to striking at distance but Laston won't allow it.
Laston has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Laston throws a strike but Yang rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Yang moves into the clinch.
Yang lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Laston backwards.
Laston turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Yang manages to work his way to half guard, despite Laston's best efforts.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yang wants to control but Laston is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Laston tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Yang.
Laston throws a strike but Yang avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Yang will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Yang is trying to control the position but Laston postures up.
Laston throws an elbow that misses. Yang uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Laston's guard. Nice move by Yang!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Laston wants to stand but Yang is controlling the position.

Yang slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Laston is trying to get back to his feet.

You get the feeling that Laston really doesn't like being in this position too much.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Laston enables Yang to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Laston manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Laston pushes Yang away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Yang gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Carter Yang.
Well Yang has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
