PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam T (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). T has chosen Kiss From a Rose as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Sam T is staring across the ring at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Doe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam T!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Doe scores a takedown into full mount!
Doe looking to control but T is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Doe is really struggling to control T but he's trying to hold on to the position.
T is desperately trying to improve his position but Doe has a good base and remains in mount.
Doe can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as T is looking to escape.
T is looking to improve his position but Doe isn't that keen on the idea.
Doe tries to control but T wriggling away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A nice elbow there by Doe.
T squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
T sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Doe wants to pass to mount but T is defending the position.
Doe wants to take a breather but T is having none of it.

T looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
T wants to improve his position but Doe is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Doe is pressing down on T's thigh, looking to free his foot. T is holding on for now.
T is holding on to half guard well.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Doe connects with a solid leg kick.
Doe misses with the combination.
T throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Doe shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with T but T pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Doe lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
T throws a head kick that misses.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
T working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Doe is breathing heavily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Doe manages to break the clinch.

Doe scores a takedown into full mount!
T sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Doe throwing shots but T is blocking nicely.
T manages to get to full guard.

Doe avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Doe trying to control the position from guard on top but T is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
T is trying to keep Doe in close.
T is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Doe is controlling him.
T keeping moving, preventing Doe from controlling successfully.
T controls Doe momentarily but Doe frees himself.

T isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Doe stacks T on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Doe!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Doe dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Doe changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. T tries to avoid it but Doe manages to keep hold of a leg and drag T to the ground. T escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Doe chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Doe throws a head kick that misses.
T is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Doe.
T misses the shot to the body.

Doe shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Doe showed some decent athleticism there.
T desperately trying to maintain half guard.
T wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
T wants to sweep but Doe has passed to side control!

You can see the frustration on T's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
T is looking to reverse the position.

Doe thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
T pushes Doe away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Doe gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
T struggling a bit here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
T looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Doe has a takedown stuffed.
Sam T seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
T throws a one two combo.
Doe misses with a double jab.
T lands a nice looking body kick.
T throws a sloppy head kick
and Doe counters with a nice kick to the body.
Doe scoring well with a low kick there.
Nice sprawl there from T as Doe shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Doe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
T misses with a head kick.
Doe throws out a loose jab but T uses good head movement to avoid it.

Doe closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming T to the mat! T manages to get full guard.
Doe trying to control but T is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Doe has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
T lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Doe!
Doe reaches up to try and control the position but T seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Doe rolls and tries to escape and now T has his back!
T throws strikes from the back but Doe rolls nicely and manages to end up in full guard. Nice work by Doe.
Doe is trying to control the position but T postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
T advances to half guard.
T working the head and body with strikes.
T tries to stand but can't do so whilst Doe controls his leg.

T gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Doe connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
T plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Doe instigates a clinch.
T looking to stall.

Doe escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Sam T will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Doe uses good head movement to avoid the hook from T.
Doe connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Doe.
Doe moves out of range as T strikes.
Doe walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
T throws a sloppy head kick and Doe moves out of range easily.
Doe lands a head kick. T smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Doe closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Still in half guard, Doe seems content to control.
T is looking for a sweep. Doe is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Doe is looking to take a break and control but T is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Doe is controlling the pace.
T tries to get to full guard but Doe has control of the leg.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Doe wants to free his trapped foot but T is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Doe prevents T from standing back up.
T gets back to full guard.
Doe has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of T is proving hard to escape from.
T is looking to stand up but Doe isn't so interested in that idea.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
T wants to sweep here but Doe controlling him for the moment.
Doe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
T throws a right hand that Doe ducks under and follows up with a left that Doe also avoids with ease.
Doe fails to land the takedown.
Doe looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Doe shoots in and drives through. T sprawls well.
Doe walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Doe shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Doe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
T lands with a thumping leg kick.

Doe darts in and clinches T up against the ropes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

T breaks the clinch.
Nice defenses there by Doe.
Doe avoids the body shot from T.
Doe takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
T throws a lazy head kick

and Doe counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Doe wants to take a breather but T is having none of it.
Doe throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Doe thows a huge punch but T dodges it nicely.
T wants to get back to his feet.
T is looking to control Doe's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can T avoid being mounted?
T wants to get back to his feet.
John Doe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
T is trying to control but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Doe wants to pass the guard but T is defending well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

T fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Doe sprawls well initially but T persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

T is working for a kimura but Doe is defending it quite comfortably.
T is looking to take a break and control but Doe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
T passes to full mount!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Doe.
I think Doe has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
