The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Atkinson. Position misses with a takedown and Atkinson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Atkinson prevents Position from improving his position. Position trying to hold on to Atkinson's head to control him but Atkinson postures up.
Position wants to get back to full guard but Atkinson has passed into side control. Position is looking for a sweep. Position is not content to let Atkinson control the position. Position gets back to half guard. Position is refusing to be controlled, as Atkinson sits in half guard. Position works his way to full guard. Good work.

That's nine minutes gone in the round. Position stopping the sweep attempt from Atkinson. Position trying to control the position from guard on top but Atkinson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Position tries to free his leg and advance position but Atkinson is retaining full guard. Position wants to control from the top but Atkinson keeps moving. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Sub Position hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Position shoots in but Atkinson avoids the takedown attempt easily. Position fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rowan Atkinson. Well Atkinson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
