Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dayton Kain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Belisle! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Belisle gets the takedown into side control. Belisle looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Kain is looking to regain half guard here but Belisle keeps moving and retains side control. Belisle stands up and beckons Kain to his feet. Kain looks to land a combination but Belisle avoids it well. Kain fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Belisle moves into the clinch successfully.
Belisle prevents Kain from breaking the clinch. Kain breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kain tries to bum rush Belisle with a series of wild strikes but Belisle uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Belisle shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Kain is refusing to be controlled, as Belisle sits in half guard. Belisle seems to be looking for submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Belisle wants to take a breather but Kain is having none of it. Kain pushes Belisle off looking to stand but Belisle dives back in and keeps control.
Belisle throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Belisle is looking for a kimura but Kain is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Belisle to get the leverage. Kain tries to roll over but Belisle keeps him under control. Kain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Belisle on the ground.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Kain misses with an uppercut. Kain misses with a wild body shot. Kain scores with a nice right hand.
Kain has taken the fight to the clinch.
Belisle throws an elbow but it misses.
Kain wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Belisle has him pressed against the cage. Belisle swings wildly with an uppercut but Kain uses good head movement to avoid it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kain wants to break free but Belisle has control.
Belisle prevents Kain from breaking the clinch. Kain has had enough of the clinch but Belisle keeps him there for the moment. Belisle tries for a takedown. No joy.
Belisle looking to slow down the pace here. Belisle looks gassed! Belisle scores with a knee to the head.
Belisle lands a knee to the head.
Belisle keeps control of Kain as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Kain is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Kain is trying to break free. Belisle misses with a knee strike.
Kain wants to get back to striking at distance but Belisle won't allow it.
Kain is trying to break the clinch but Belisle has him pressed against the cage. Kain tries to pull guard but Belisle won't allow it.
Belisle tries to land a knee to the head but Kain blocks with his arms.
Belisle manages to break the clinch.
Belisle fails with a takedown attempt. Belisle shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Dayton Kain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Belisle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kain has a takedown stuffed. Belisle takes one to the side of the head.
A head kick misses from Kain. Belisle fails to land the takedown. Kain throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Belisle avoids the head kick by Kain.
Kain wants to clinch and Belisle counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Kain tries to break the clinch but Belisle is controlling the position. Belisle tries to stall but Kain uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
A bit of stalling here from Belisle.
Kain is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Belisle has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kain is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kain wants to break the clinch but can't.
Belisle is trying to stall.
Belisle wants a takedown but no success here.
Belisle prevents a takedown attempt there.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Belisle. Belisle wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kain wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kain lands a left hand that snaps the head of Belisle backwards. Belisle leaning his opponent against the cage. A short right from Kain on the inside. Belisle is trying to maintain a safe position but Kain gets an underhook and turns Belisle into the cage. Belisle tries to pull guard but Kain holds him up against the cage and eventually Belisle drops back down to his feet.
Kain breaks from the clinch.
Kain misses with a combination
and Belisle counters with a single leg into guard. Kain didn't expect that. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steve Belisle dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Kain fails to land with a series of punches.
Kain misses with a body shot.
Dayton Kain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Belisle with a lazy takedown attempt and Kain counters with a three punch combo that has Belisle backing up. Belisle nods at Kain to acknowledge the strikes. Belisle showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kain.
Belisle feints and as Kain raises his hands in defense, Belisle changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Belisle trying to control but Kain is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kain seems keen to control Belisle's posture. Belisle slips nicely into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kain is looking to control Belisle's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kain avoid being mounted?
That's one minute gone in the round. Kain tries to kick Belisle off but Belisle keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Belisle throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Belisle content to control rather than advance. Belisle is pressing down on Kain's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kain is holding on for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Belisle not doing much here.
Kain is trying to stand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kain is trying is best to control the position here. Belisle moves into full mount! Kain won't be happy about that! Belisle avoids the attempt from Kain to control. Kain can't escape the position.
Belisle is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Kain is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Kain flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Belisle anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Kain and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Belisle slips an arm under Kain chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Belisle has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Belisle is squeezing on Kain like an anaconda would it's prey. Kain fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
