Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Spencer! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bach Schtrappe! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schtrappe goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Joe Spencer has been cut. Schtrappe throws a chopping leg kick but Spencer manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Spencer looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Spencer closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Schtrappe quickly recovers to half guard. Schtrappe has hold of Spencer's hands but Spencer slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Schtrappe tries to kick Spencer off but Spencer keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Spencer sitting and controlling from the half guard. Spencer is trying to control the action in half guard but Schtrappe is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Schtrappe pushes Spencer off looking to stand but Spencer dives back in and keeps control.
Spencer is trying to control. Schtrappe wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Spencer prevents Schtrappe from standing back up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Spencer is controlling the pace.

Schtrappe controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Spencer scores with punches to the body. Spencer controls the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spencer lands with a hammerfist to the side of Schtrappe's head. Schtrappe wants to get back to his feet. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spencer moves out of range as Schtrappe strikes. Schtrappe misses with an uppercut. Spencer saw that one coming. Schtrappe lands with a straight right. Spencer didn't see that one coming. Schtrappe scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Schtrappe keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Spencer misses with a looping left. Jab by Schtrappe. Schtrappe tries to land a front kick but Spencer steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Schtrappe throws a quick inside leg kick. This has been an exciting period of action! Ouch! a nice leg kick from Spencer, right into the meat.
Spencer shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Schtrappe as he jumps to the side. Spencer scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Schtrappe doesn't seem bothered though.

Schtrappe throws a leg kick but Spencer sees it coming and moves out of range. Spencer cracks Schtrappe with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Spencer misses with a few strikes there.
Spencer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schtrappe's waist but Schtrappe gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Spencer off to one side. Spencer moves out of range of the body kick. Schtrappe scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Schtrappe lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Schtrappe lands a nice leg kick that just misses Spencer's sensitive parts. This has been an exciting period of action! Spencer shoots for a double leg takedown but Schtrappe sprawls well. He's pushed Spencer's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Spencer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Schtrappe lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Schtrappe lands with a kick to the ribs.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Spencer seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Schtrappe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Schtrappe looks to land a body kick but Spencer moved away. Spencer looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Schtrappe is fending him off so far but Spencer persists. Nope, Schtrappe circles away and we're back to standing. A shot to the liver by Schtrappe. Beautiful body shot. Schtrappe wants to slow Spencer down by chopping away at his legs. Schtrappe moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Spencer slips a straight right by Schtrappe. Schtrappe misses with a left hand and Spencer counters with a shoot takedown. Schtrappe fights it but they end up in guard. Spencer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Spencer throws an elbow that misses. Schtrappe uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Spencer's guard. Nice move by Schtrappe! Schtrappe stopping the sweep attempt from Spencer. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Spencer is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schtrappe preventing the sweep. Spencer has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Schtrappe wants to get up but he can't break Spencer's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Schtrappe misses the jab. Schtrappe tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Spencer was well out of range. Poor timing from Schtrappe. Schtrappe dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Schtrappe feints and then cracks Spencer's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Spencer down.

Spencer checks a low kick from Schtrappe. Bach Schtrappe seems to be getting the better of the standup. Spencer has a takedown stuffed. Spencer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Schtrappe sprawls well initially but Spencer persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Spencer wants to take a breather but Schtrappe is having none of it. Well, if Spencer is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Spencer seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Schtrappe is looking to escape. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Spencer connects with a nice short shot to Schtrappe's temple. Schtrappe wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Spencer is nestled in close to Schtrappe, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Spencer thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Schtrappe's head. Spencer is trying to control the action in half guard but Schtrappe is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Spencer slips a nice elbow through Schtrappe's hands, connecting with Schtrappe's forehead. Spencer is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Schtrappe is staying active underneath Spencer, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Spencer winds up and cracks Schtrappe with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spencer slows the pace down in half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Spencer seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Spencer gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Schtrappe. Spencer thows a body shot but no joy. Spencer turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Schtrappe throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Schtrappe leaves Spencer with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Schtrappe.
Spencer is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Spencer lands a jab to Schtrappe's midsection. Schtrappe throws a solid leg kick but Spencer takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Schtrappe. Schtrappe pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Schtrappe with a nice cross. Schtrappe goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Spencer moves out of range as Schtrappe throws a body kick.

That's one minute gone in the round. Spencer bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Schtrappe throws Spencer to one side and escapes! Schtrappe is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Schtrappe moves away from the strike by Spencer. Spencer connects with a body shot. Spencer on the wrong end of a nice jab. Spencer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Schtrappe but Schtrappe pushes him off and we're back to square one. Schtrappe fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Spencer looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Schtrappe stuns Spencer with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Spencer thows a body shot but no joy. Spencer cracks Schtrappe with a good jab. Schtrappe tries a head kick but it misses.

Spencer fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Schtrappe avoids it really well and circles away. Spencer shoots in but no luck this time. Schtrappe throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Schtrappe - that will leave a mark!

Bach Schtrappe dominated that fourth round. The cut man is working on Joe Spencer's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Schtrappe swings for the body but Spencer moves out of range.
Spencer ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Schtrappe connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Spencer chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Schtrappe can pounce on him.

Spencer misses with a looping left. Schtrappe thows a left - swing and a miss! That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Spencer crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Schtrappe - the referee stops the clock and Spencer gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Schtrappe. Spencer manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Spencer fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Spencer will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Schtrappe tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Spencer is able to avoid easily. Schtrappe swings for the body but Spencer moves out of range.
Spencer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. No luck for Spencer with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Spencer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Nice work. Schtrappe bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Spencer closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Schtrappe's guard. Spencer prevents Schtrappe from getting back to his feet. Spencer wants to pass the guard but Schtrappe is keeping the position. Spencer controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Schtrappe kicks Spencer off and gets to his feet. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Spencer throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Schtrappe was covering up waiting for the punch and Spencer finishes the takedown easily into guard. Schtrappe is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Spencer cracks Schtrappe with a solid left hand. Spencer showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Schtrappe wants to get back to his feet but Spencer is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Spencer is looking to work some ground and pound but Schtrappe has wrist control. Spencer wants to control from the top but Schtrappe keeps moving. Schtrappe is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Spencer is controlling him. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Spencer wants to pass the guard but Schtrappe is keeping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Schtrappe can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Spencer controls the pace.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Schtrappe takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Schtrappe lands a nice looking body kick. Schtrappe bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Spencer's head backwards. Schtrappe takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. A looping hook to the body misses from Spencer. Schtrappe does a little dance to reset his feet. Schtrappe throws a low kick but it's checked well by Spencer. Spencer uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Schtrappe. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spencer scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Spencer misses the shot to the body. Schtrappe slips under a jab from Spencer. A looping hook to the body misses from Schtrappe. Spencer does a little dance to reset his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Bach Schtrappe. I think Schtrappe has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
