The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Neeson throws a lazy right hand but Machida sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Machida pushes Neeson up against the cage in a clinch.
Machida lands a right hand.
Machida swings wildly with an uppercut but Neeson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Machida misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Neeson misses with the head strike.
Machida scores with a shot to the side of Neeson's head.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Machida.
Neeson goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Neeson throws a punch but it's blocked by Machida.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Machida just misses with a elbow thrown towards Neeson's brow.

Machida lands a really nice looking cross but Neeson seems unphased.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Neeson wants to slow Machida down by chopping away at his legs.

I was talking to Machida's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Neeson manages to break the clinch.
Neeson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Machida manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Nice uppercut lands for Machida. That snapped Neeson's head back.
It looks like Liam Neeson has been cut.
Neeson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Machida fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Neeson on the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Machida tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Neeson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Neeson scores with a spinning back kick!
Neeson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Machida lands with a good body shot.
Machida misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Neeson.
Machida lands a big head kick that sends Neeson tumbling to the mat! Machida takes a step backwards and waves Neeson back to his feet - he wants the finish!
A nice inside leg kick there by Neeson. That's going to slow Machida down.
Neeson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Machida can pounce on him.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neeson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Neeson looks up at the clock. Bad move! Machida lands a right hand from hell, dropping Neeson. Machida pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Renzo Machida!
After the fight, Renzo Machida was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
