Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roy Westen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Squirrel! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sloppy strikes from Squirrel. Those never looked like landing. Westen looks to clinch and Squirrel counters by clinching up. Westen gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Squirrel regains guard.
Squirrel seems keen to control Westen's posture. Westen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Squirrel is keeping the position for now. Squirrel controlling the position. Westen wants to pass the guard but Squirrel is keeping the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Squirrel looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Westen trying to control but Squirrel is working from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Steve Squirrel was stalling too much, according to the referee. Westen tries to clinch but Squirrel moves away and Squirrel counters by clinching up. Westen has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Squirrel clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Westen is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Squirrel knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Squirrel for a finish. Westen is not going to allow Squirrel to sit and survive in this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Squirrel manages to reverse the position and now he's in Westen's guard. Nice work there by Squirrel.
Squirrel makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Squirrel lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Squirrel postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Squirrel slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Westen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Westen is breathing heavily. Squirrel chips away with some ground and pound. Squirrel with a flurry of punches that miss. Squirrel keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Westen's head. Squirrel in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Squirrel cracks Westen with a solid left hand. Squirrel scoring with punches to the head and body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Squirrel is in close to Westen's body, working some short punches and elbows. Squirrel landing with the ground and pound. Westen is trying to keep Squirrel in close.
Squirrel content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Squirrel is stalling in the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Squirrel works over Westen with some ground and pound from guard. Squirrel working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Squirrel looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Squirrel lands a couple of elbows. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Squirrel slips nicely into half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Squirrel connects with a nice short shot to Westen's temple. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steve Squirrel dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Squirrel decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Squirrel thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Nice strikes from Squirrel there. Squirrel takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Squirrel controlling the action here. Westen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Squirrel is working away from the top position though. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Squirrel connects with a nice short shot to Westen's temple. Squirrel is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Westen has hold of Squirrel's hands but Squirrel slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Squirrel scoring with strikes to the body and head. Squirrel working the head and body with strikes. Squirrel has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Squirrel is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Westen taking some punishment here, with Squirrel in his half guard. Squirrel moves into full mount! Westen won't be happy about that! Squirrel dominating with strikes here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Squirrel postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Westen bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Squirrel and the fight is over!
