The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pickett takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pickett.
Carneiro looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Pickett looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carneiro is fending him off so far but Pickett persists. Nope, Carneiro circles away and we're back to standing.
Pickett really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Carneiro shoots and misses
and Pickett counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Carneiro's guard now.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Pickett trying to control the position from guard on top but Carneiro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Carneiro looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Carneiro looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Pickett got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carneiro has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pickett has managed to get both his arms back between Carneiro's legs - danger averted.
Pickett is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Pickett has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Carneiro is looking to cinch up a triangle. Pickett throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Carneiro's body to avoid the submission. Carneiro has instead reached around Pickett's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Carneiro arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
