PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carl Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Hoe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoe has chosen Ivanhoe theme as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Carl Woods!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ivan Hoe!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woods throws a right hand that Hoe ducks under and follows up with a left that Hoe also avoids with ease.
A big right from Woods misses.
Woods lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Hoe lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Hoe throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Woods was covering up waiting for the punch and Hoe finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Woods preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Hoe with a flurry of punches that miss.
Hoe controls from within his opponent's guard.
Woods will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hoe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Woods swivels though and keeps the full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ivan Hoe hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Woods swings for the body but Hoe moves out of range.

Hoe closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Woods's guard.

Hoe tries to free his leg and advance position but Woods is retaining full guard.

Hoe is looking to work some ground and pound but Woods has wrist control.

Woods pushes Hoe off and scrambles back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hoe closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hoe throwing shots but Woods is blocking nicely.
Hoe is looking to take a break and control but Woods is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Woods is doing well to control the position and prevent Hoe from advancing to side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Woods utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hoe is looking to work some ground and pound but Woods has wrist control.

Woods misses with a lunging right hand

and Hoe decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Woods's guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Carl Woods.
I think Hoe has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
