Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 17 - 1, fighting out of New York, Calvin McCork! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 13 - 2, fighting out of New York, Tony Hendricks! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCork throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hendricks sees it coming and avoids it easily. McCork scores with a jab. McCork misses with a head kick.
McCork digs a good hook to Hendricks's body.
Calvin McCork seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hendricks throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. McCork tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hendricks is in McCork's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Hendricks is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hendricks with a flurry of punches that miss. McCork keeping moving, preventing Hendricks from controlling successfully. Hendricks with a nice head shot there. McCork looking for a sweep. Not yet McCork, not yet. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McCork manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Hendricks can't escape the position.
McCork wants to finish this one by submission but Hendricks is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from McCork. McCork looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. McCork is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hendricks regains half guard. Hendricks trying to hold on to McCork's head to control him but McCork postures up.
Hendricks might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control McCork haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Hendricks looking for submissions off his back. Hendricks is looking to improve his position.
McCork looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hendricks is trying to maintain the position but McCork is very close to passing his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McCork seems to be looking for submissions.
Hendricks is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McCork's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McCork's back! Hendricks is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at McCork. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. This has been an exciting period of action! McCork tries to escape the position.
Hendricks has got one arm under McCork's chin. This could be trouble... McCork trying to control the other hand but Hendricks gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, McCork has tapped out! The fight is over!
