Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between El Wray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikonosuke Uyenishi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for El Wray has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, El Wray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mikonosuke Uyenishi!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wray changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Uyenishi fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Nice sprawl there from Wray as Uyenishi shoots in.

Wray gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Wray lands a knee to the head.
Wray lands with a left to the head.
Wray working some nice short punches in the clinch.
A body shot lands from Wray.

Wray escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

El Wray has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mikonosuke Uyenishi.
Wray moves in looking to clinch but Uyenishi pushes him off.
Wray lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Uyenishi backs up against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wray drops Uyenishi with a nice combination! Wray dives into Uyenishi's guard, looking to finish!

Uyenishi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wray doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wray manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Uyenishi seems to have recovered his senses.

Uyenishi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wray gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Uyenishi keeping moving, preventing Wray from controlling successfully.

Uyenishi is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Uyenishi is looking to sweep but instead, Wray has passed into half guard.
Uyenishi wants to improve his position but Wray is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Wray tries to stand and escape but Uyenishi is controlling the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Wray connects with a single shot there.
Wray swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Uyenishi.

Uyenishi feints and as Wray raises his hands in defense, Uyenishi changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Wray can't keep his opponent in guard - Uyenishi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Uyenishi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wray is just riding it out for now. Uyenishi eventually gives up the hold.
Wray wants to control but Uyenishi is keeping busy.
Wray knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Uyenishi on the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Uyenishi is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Wray won't allow Uyenishi to pass to mount.

Uyenishi is working for a submission of some sort.
Uyenishi is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Wray!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Uyenishi looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Uyenishi goes for an armbar but Wray turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Wray.

Uyenishi is looking for a triangle here but Wray uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wray trying to control the action but Uyenishi is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

El Wray dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Wray goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Wray gets caught flat footed, as Uyenishi shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Uyenishi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wray is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wray has escaped and now he's on top!

Uyenishi has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Wray is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Uyenishi.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Uyenishi is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Wray off and has taken his back!

Uyenishi is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Wray defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Wray wants to escape the position.

Uyenishi has got one arm under Wray's chin. This could be trouble... Wray trying to control the other hand but Uyenishi gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Wray has tapped out! The fight is over!
