The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Bruille looks for the body kick but Joseph saw that one coming.
De Bruille tries to close the distance and clinch up but Joseph swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Joseph stuffs the takedown attempt from De Bruille. De Bruille gets slowly back to his feet.
Joseph shoots in and drives through. De Bruille sprawls well.
De Bruille misses with a head kick.
De Bruille shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Joseph sprawls well. Joseph wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. De Bruille gets slowly back to his feet.

Sydney Joseph has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hatem De Bruille.

Joseph is pressed up against the cage. De Bruille has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Joseph down to the mat. Joseph avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

De Bruille throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Joseph's waist but Joseph gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing De Bruille off to one side.

and Joseph counters with a nice double leg into side control. De Bruille won't be happy with that.

Joseph will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

De Bruille is staying active underneath Joseph, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

We're going to have a standup here because Sydney Joseph wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

and De Bruille counters by clinching up.
De Bruille has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Joseph is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
De Bruille lands a nice knee to the body.

Joseph really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
De Bruille tries for a takedown but Joseph sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

De Bruille really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Joseph. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

De Bruille is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Joseph gets his way!
