And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

so Khashanov counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Khashanov is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Mahoney throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Khashanov postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mahoney is trying to keep Khashanov in close.
Khashanov is in close to Mahoney's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Khashanov makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Khashanov is working Mahoney over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Khashanov wants to control from the top but Mahoney keeps moving.
Khashanov working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Mahoney's head.
Khashanov throws a big right hand that misses.
Mahoney is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mahoney manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Khashanov manages to get himself to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mahoney thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Khashanov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Khashanov tries to get out of the position.

Khashanov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mahoney postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Khashanov is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mahoney, into his guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Khashanov forces his way into half guard.

Mahoney on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Khashanov connects with a nice short shot to Mahoney's temple.

Khashanov landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Khashanov tries to pass to full mount but Mahoney defends it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mahoney is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Khashanov is aware though and is defending well.

Mahoney working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Khashanov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Khashanov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mahoney is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Khashanov is working Mahoney over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Mahoney has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Khashanov should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Mahoney has tightened it up now! Khashanov should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
