Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Charles Cozad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hidalgo Montoya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Montoya's choice of entrance music: El Toro. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Charles Cozad! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hidalgo Montoya! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Montoya scores with a nice body kick.
Cozad misses with the combination.
Cozad is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
A head kick misses from Cozad. Cozad throws a body punch but Montoya moves out of range. Montoya on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. We've been hearing reports that Cozad has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. A shot to the liver by Montoya. Beautiful body shot. Cozad moves out of range of the body kick. Montoya ducks under a wild hook from Cozad. Cozad misses with an uppercut. Montoya closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. A lull in the action here. Cozad tries to bench press Montoya off him but Montoya keeps the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Montoya tries to move to mount but Cozad blocks the move with his legs. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Montoya wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cozad keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cozad manages to work his way to half guard, despite Montoya's best efforts. Montoya perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Cozad kicks off Montoya and gets to his feet. Cozad throws a nice head kick!
Cozad sizes up Montoya with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
It looks like Hidalgo Montoya has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Cozad doesn't manage to clinch there - Montoya circles away.
Cozad is looking to clinch but Montoya is avoiding it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cozad swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cozad fails with a takedown attempt. Montoya moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Montoya blocks the body kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from Montoya. Montoya swats away the attempt to clinch by Cozad. Montoya circles away from the clinch attempt.
Charles Cozad seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A punch combination from Cozad misses. Cozad tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cozad moves in looking to clinch but Montoya pushes him off. Cozad goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Some bone on bone action there as Cozad checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Montoya works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Montoya thuds his shin into the meat of Cozad's side.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Montoya listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Cozad takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Montoya scores with a shot to the body.
Cozad fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Montoya avoids it really well and circles away. Montoya swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Cozad. Montoya punishes Cozad's body with a nice straight punch. Montoya shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Cozad keeps control of the position for the meantime. Cozad tries to get to full guard but Montoya has control of the leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Montoya wants to take a breather but Cozad is having none of it. Montoya is looking for a kimura but Cozad is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Montoya to get the leverage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cozad is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cozad is doing well to control the position and prevent Montoya from advancing to side control. Montoya is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Cozad doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Montoya. Cozad has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Montoya is working away from the top position though. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Montoya tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cozad knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Hidalgo Montoya will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Hidalgo Montoya's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Montoya bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Montoya throws a leg kick which misses Cozad's front leg but catches the back leg as Cozad tries to avoid it. Cozad throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Montoya counters with a right hand to the body. Montoya stuffs the takedown. Montoya slips a jab and a cross from Cozad.
Cozad fails with the takedown. Cozad dives in and grabs Montoya's left leg, looking for a takedown. Montoya pushes down on Cozad's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Charles Cozad. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cozad fails in his attempt to clinch. Cozad is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Cozad tries to clinch up but Montoya circles away and keeps his distance. Cozad throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Montoya bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Cozad throws a sloppy head kick and Montoya counters with a takedown into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cozad is looking to regain half guard here but Montoya keeps moving and retains side control. Montoya is looking to take a break and control but Cozad is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Cozad is looking to reverse the position. Montoya looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Cozad is looking for a sweep. Cozad is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Montoya wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cozad keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cozad sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Montoya uses his free foot to push down on Cozad's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Cozad. Montoya wants to control the pace but Cozad is squirming around nicely. Montoya wants to take Cozad's back but he can't do it this time. Montoya with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Hidalgo Montoya has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Montoya controlling the position easily from mount. Montoya wants to control the pace but Cozad is squirming around nicely. Cozad really wants to buck Montoya off and get back to his feet. Cozad prevents Montoya from taking his back. Cozad is trying desperately to improve position. Montoya is working for a guillotine from mount but Cozad frees his head quite easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Montoya is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Cozad to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Cozad shrugs it off. Cozad tries to get back to half guard but can't. Cozad is squirming around, avoiding Montoya's attempts to control the action. Cozad is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Montoya can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cozad is looking to escape. Cozad can't escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Montoya has control of Cozad's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cozad regains control of the situation pretty easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hidalgo Montoya showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Hidalgo Montoya's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Cozad scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Cozad fails to land with a series of punches.
Montoya lands a jab-cross combination. Cozad fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Montoya sprawls well initially but Cozad persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Cozad is looking to take a break and control but Montoya is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Montoya is looking for a sweep. Cozad is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Montoya has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cozad is working away from the top position though. Montoya tries to roll over but Cozad keeps him under control. Cozad is working for a submission of some sort.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Montoya manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Cozad looking to pass the guard. Cozad trying to control but Montoya is working from the bottom. Cozad pushes down on Montoya's leg and manages to get into half guard. Montoya is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cozad's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cozad's back!

Montoya gets his hands free as Cozad looks to control. Cozad is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Cozad manages to reverse the position and now he's in Montoya's guard. Nice work there by Cozad.
Cozad trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Cozad is looking to stand up but Montoya won't let him. Montoya had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cozad defends it easily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Montoya is looking for a triangle but Cozad pushes his legs off easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cozad slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Hidalgo Montoya is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Montoya looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Cozad wants to stand but Montoya has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Montoya is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Montoya looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Charles Cozad has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Cozad has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cozad pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Montoya is keeping the position for now. Montoya looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Cozad working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Montoya holds on and takes a little breather.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Charles Cozad just wasn't active enough. Cozad misses with an attempted mid kick.

Cozad jabbing away but nothing is landing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Montoya jabs at Cozad's body. Cozad throws a head kick that half lands.
Montoya fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cozad looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Charles Cozad. I think Montoya has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Hidalgo Montoya! Hidalgo Montoya tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
