Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eric Avila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Te Rauparaha Ii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Avila comes into the arena with DMX - Ain't No Sunshine blaring out of the sound system. Te Rauparaha Ii has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avila lands a really nice looking cross but Rauparaha Ii seems unphased.
It looks like Te Rauparaha Ii has been cut.
Avila connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Avila has closed the distance and engaged Rauparaha Ii in a clinch.
Avila content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Rauparaha Ii wants a takedown but no success here.

Avila gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rauparaha Ii.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Avila works on Rauparaha Ii's body with a couple of short punches.
Avila is pressed up against the cage. Rauparaha Ii has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Avila down to the mat. Avila avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Rauparaha Ii has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Eric Avila has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Te Rauparaha Ii.
Rauparaha Ii walks straight into a right hand from Avila - that's dropped him! Avila jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Rauparaha Ii from any more punishment! Rauparaha Ii complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
