PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bryan Nickoson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Ablett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nickoson comes to the cage accompanied by Eye of the Tiger. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nickoson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ablett takes a jab right on the kisser.
Nickoson connects with a right hand. Ablett shakes it off.
Nickoson scoring well with a low kick there.
Nickoson throws a series of strikes that have Ablett backpedaling.
Nickoson slips a jab and a cross from Ablett.
Nickoson pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Ablett misses with a double jab
and Nickoson counters with a series of strikes. Ablett will be more careful next time no doubt.
Nickoson misses with a body shot.

Ablett manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Nickoson on his heels. He'll look to pass Nickoson's guard now, I'm sure.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Nickoson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ablett can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Ablett is fighting to break Nickoson's control of his arms but Nickoson is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Ablett slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Ablett throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Nickoson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Ablett did well to prevent Nickoson getting side control.
Ablett tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Nickoson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nickoson throws a strike but Ablett avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Ablett wants to control but Nickoson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Nickoson is trying to control. Ablett wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Nickoson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bryan Nickoson wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Ablett throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Nickoson counters with an inside leg kick.
Ablett takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Ablett slips a straight right by Nickoson.
A telegraphed right hand from Ablett misses the target.
Ablett on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Nickoson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ablett defends well and Nickoson ends up having to push Ablett into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nickoson lands an elbow that stopped Ablett in his tracks for a moment.

Ablett closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Ablett doesn't manage to clinch there - Nickoson circles away.
Ablett looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Nickoson's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ablett under the eye.

Nickoson throws a low kick, looking for Ablett's leg but Ablett calmly moves out of range.
Horrible takedown by Nickoson or perhaps it was just good defense by Ablett which made him look bad.

Nickoson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Nickoson is keen to just control but Ablett is a slippery customer.

We're going to have a standup here because Bryan Nickoson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Nickoson throws a jab but it's blocked by Ablett.
A left and a right from Nickoson both land. Nice combination.
Bryan Nickoson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ablett shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nickoson pinned against the cage. Nickoson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Nickoson throws a hook but Ablett avoids it easily.

Ablett shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ablett was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Ablett looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nickoson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Nickoson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ablett is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

BOOM! Ablett connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Nickoson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ablett thows a huge punch but Nickoson dodges it nicely.

Nickoson is trying to control Ablett's posture but Ablett avoids it.

Ablett is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nickoson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Nickoson has one of Ablett's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gary Ablett comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Nickoson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
