Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Noel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeremy Zambidi! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zambidi throws a combination that misses and Noel counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Noel. Zambidi is looking for a triangle but Noel pushes his legs off easily.
Zambidi has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Noel has passed into side control.
Noel prevents Zambidi from escaping the position. Zambidi is looking to reverse the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zambidi sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Zambidi wants to get back to his feet. Zambidi trying to hold on to Noel's head to control him but Noel postures up.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Noel slaps away a takedown attempt from Zambidi, before circling back to the center of the mat. Zambidi misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Noel swats away the attempt to clinch by Zambidi. Zambidi shoots in and bounces Noel off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Noel avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Zambidi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Zambidi wants to pass the guard but Noel is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Noel keeping moving, preventing Zambidi from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jeremy Zambidi. Zambidi tries to clinch up but Noel circles away and keeps his distance. Zambidi misses with a double jab.
Zambidi tries to close the distance and clinch but Noel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Zambidi is looking to clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Noel displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Zambidi throws out the jab. Zambidi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Zambidi lands in his opponent's guard. Zambidi trying to control but Noel is working from the bottom. Zambidi stops Noel from standing up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Zambidi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Zambidi advances to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jeremy Zambidi dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Zambidi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Noel paws at him with a jab and circles away. Zambidi falls off balance throwing a combination
and Noel counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Noel wanted to stand there but Zambidi had control of the position. Zambidi is pulling down on Noel's head to control his posture. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Daniel Noel wasn't doing enough on the ground. Zambidi throws a lazy right hand but Noel sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Zambidi fails to land with a series of punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zambidi looks to land a left hand but Noel moved out of range nicely. Zambidi misses with a wild combination.
Zambidi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Noel stops Zambidi from passing to mount. Noel is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Zambidi is controlling him well. Noel is not content to let Zambidi control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The strikes coming from Zambidi are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Noel dodges the ground and pound from Zambidi. Zambidi goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Noel rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Zambidi's guard! Nice work there by Noel! Noel wants to stand and escape but instead Zambidi has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zambidi is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Noel is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Noel has escaped and now he's on top! Noel wanted to stand there but Zambidi had control of the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Noel preventing the sweep. Noel stands up from guard. Let's bang! Zambidi is trying hard to land a takedown here. Noel sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Zambidi swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Jeremy Zambidi will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

and Noel counters with a takedown into side control. Zambidi is trying to control Noel's posture but Noel avoids it. Zambidi tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Noel presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Noel is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
That's one minute gone in the round. Zambidi throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Zambidi pushes Noel up against the cage in a clinch. Zambidi tries a knee to the head but Noel blocks it.
Zambidi gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Zambidi trying to control the position from guard on top but Noel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jeremy Zambidi hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Zambidi looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Noel is fending him off so far but Zambidi persists. Nope, Noel circles away and we're back to standing. Zambidi misses with a jab, cross combination.
Zambidi throws a series of punches but Noel moves out of range. Zambidi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Noel gets caught napping as Zambidi dives in and scores a takedown. Noel manages to retain guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Zambidi working some strikes from top position. Noel keeping moving, preventing Zambidi from controlling successfully. Noel has his feet on Zambidi's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zambidi throws a right and a left that both miss. Zambidi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Zambidi misses with a takedown and Noel counters with a shoot takedown. Zambidi fights it but they end up in guard. Daniel Noel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeremy Zambidi. Zambidi wants to sweep but no luck. Noel wants to stand but Zambidi has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

We're going to have a standup here because Daniel Noel wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Zambidi throws a leg kick that is checked and Noel counters with a nice double leg into side control. Zambidi won't be happy with that. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Noel tries to stand but Zambidi is controlling his head. Noel stands up and we're back to a striking position. Zambidi swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Noel counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Zambidi trying to control but Noel postures up.
Daniel Noel has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jeremy Zambidi is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Daniel Noel. I think Zambidi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
