PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tad Chaney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Silvestri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Tad Chaney has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Tad Chaney seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tad Chaney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Silvestri!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silvestri tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Chaney swivels and escapes.
Chaney throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Chaney throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silvestri's waist but Silvestri gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Chaney off to one side.
A head kick misses from Chaney.
Silvestri shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Chaney but Chaney pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Chaney rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Silvestri moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Chaney throws a shot to the body.
Chaney gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Chaney gets tackled into the cage by Silvestri. Silvestri maintains the clinch.

Silvestri breaks the clinch.
Chaney shoots in looking for a takedown but Silvestri manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Chaney's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tad Chaney. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A combination from Silvestri does no damage.
Silvestri slaps away a takedown attempt from Chaney, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Chaney throws a sloppy head kick and Silvestri moves out of range easily.
Silvestri circles away from the clinch attempt.

Silvestri closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Chaney quickly recovers to half guard.
Chaney is trying to control but Silvestri passes into side control!

Silvestri has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Silvestri looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Chaney is trying to control Silvestri's posture but Silvestri avoids it.

Silvestri is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Chaney's shoulder. That is not cool.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Chaney wants to control but Silvestri postures up.
Silvestri has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Silvestri looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chaney is in all sorts of trouble here.

Silvestri trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Silvestri has hold of Chaney's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Chaney manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Silvestri is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Silvestri breaks from Chaney's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Chaney sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Silvestri in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chaney is staying active underneath Silvestri, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Chaney manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Silvestri gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Chaney fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Silvestri keeps the fight on the outside.
Silvestri doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Chaney throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Chaney steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Silvestri. That one must have hurt.
Chaney is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Silvestri has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Silvestri tries to clinch but Chaney is having none of it.
Chaney goes for a double leg but Silvestri avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Silvestri continues to drive forward.

Silvestri tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Chaney paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Chaney shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Silvestri defends it nicely.

Silvestri wants to clinch but Chaney slips to the side
enabling Chaney to counter with a crisp jab.

Chaney tries to keep at a distance but Silvestri has taken the fight into the clinch.
Chaney stops a takedown attempt from Silvestri.
Chaney wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Silvestri successfully pulls guard.

Chaney postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Silvestri is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Chaney, into his guard.
Chaney wants to improve his position but instead Silvestri has moved into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Silvestri is looking to take a break and control but Chaney is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Silvestri looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Chaney with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Silvestri stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
No luck for Silvestri with that takedown attempt.
Tad Chaney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Silvestri.
Silvestri defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Chaney.

Silvestri closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Silvestri thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Silvestri has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Chaney shoots in for a double leg but Silvestri sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Silvestri shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chaney pinned against the cage. Chaney gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Silvestri tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Chaney paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Silvestri uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Chaney.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Silvestri.
Chaney shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silvestri but Silvestri pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silvestri stands up over Chaney, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Chris Silvestri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Silvestri gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Chaney wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Silvestri has him pressed against the cage.
Silvestri jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Chaney walks away with a smile on his face. Silvestri gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Chaney fails with the takedown.
Silvestri doesn't manage to clinch there - Chaney circles away.
Chaney tries for a takedown but Silvestri sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Silvestri slips under a jab from Chaney.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Silvestri trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Silvestri's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Silvestri pushes down on Chaney's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Silvestri is keen to just control but Chaney is a slippery customer.

Silvestri is trying to work for a kimura but Chaney is defending well.
Silvestri works his way into side control.
Silvestri wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chaney keeps working.

Silvestri is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Chaney knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Well Silvestri has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
