The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Sergei Dronov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
McDonald closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McDonald lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
McDonald stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lucas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McDonald prevents Lucas from getting back to his feet.
McDonald works a leg free and moves into half guard.
McDonald not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
McDonald seems to be working for a kimura but Lucas defends the submission attempt.

McDonald is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lucas is just riding it out for now. McDonald eventually gives up the hold.

McDonald thows a huge punch but Lucas dodges it nicely.
McDonald is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lucas doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McDonald.

McDonald is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lucas defends it well.
Lucas is defending against the submission attempts here by McDonald.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McDonald frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
McDonald throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Lucas because McDonald loaded up on that one.
Lucas is in a horrible position here. McDonald smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

McDonald throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

It looks like Barton Lucas has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McDonald is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lucas can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
McDonald has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
McDonald tries to control but Lucas wriggling away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lucas wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by McDonald.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
McDonald shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lucas as he avoids it easily.

and Lucas counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in McDonald's guard now.
McDonald looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Lucas avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McDonald isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Lucas stacks McDonald on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Lucas!

McDonald is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Lucas off and has taken his back!

McDonald is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Lucas knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Lucas for a finish.
