PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jeppe Turska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Davi Nanini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Turska comes to the cage accompanied by Last of the Mohicans Theme. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeppe Turska!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Davi Nanini!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turska avoids the head kick by Nanini.

Nanini misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Nanini throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Turska changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nanini looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Turska tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Turska lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Nanini down.
Turska has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Nanini tries to bench press Turska off him but Turska keeps the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Nanini throws a sloppy head kick and Turska moves out of range easily.

Nanini is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Turska sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Turska is working hard here to advance position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nanini throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Nanini gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Turska thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nanini's head.
Nanini moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Nanini is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Turska drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Nanini manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Turska has Nanini in his guard.

Turska fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Nanini sprawls well initially but Turska persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Nanini takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The referee warns Nanini that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Turska quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Turska but it's paid off an Nanini is forced to tap! Nice work by Turska.
