Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bud Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fernando Vega has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Bud Hicks's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bud Hicks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fernando Vega! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vega tries for a takedown but Hicks circles away easily and Hicks counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Vega's guard now. Hicks trying to stand up but can't free himself from Vega's guard. Vega is trying to control the position but Hicks postures up. Hicks scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Hicks drops back looking for a leg! Vega is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Vega manages to kick Hicks off! Hicks jumps back into Vega's guard. Hicks sitting in guard here, content to control. Hicks wants to stand but Vega is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hicks with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Vega throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Hicks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Hicks stays in close to Vega's body and controls the position. Hicks could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Vega working a defensive guard but Hicks manages to pass into side control anyway.
Vega is trying to control Hicks's posture but Hicks avoids it. A control attempt from Vega but he's now mounted! Hicks controlling from the full mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hicks fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Vega really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Hicks landing shots from mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hicks sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Hicks landing strikes from the mount and Vega is in trouble! This has been an exciting period of action! Vega is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hicks tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Hicks's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vega is bucking up trying to escape but Hicks cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Vega wants to get back to his feet.
Vega looks winded! Vega is working to get back to half guard.
Vega tries to control Hicks's body but Hicks pushes him off. Vega squirms to his side and now Hicks has his back! Hicks biding his time, controlling Vega. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bud Hicks dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Vega is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hicks to keep the fight standing. Hicks leaning against his opponent.
Vega trying to control the position but instead, Hicks has worked for underhooks and has pushed Vega into the cage. Hicks breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Vega tries to bum rush Hicks with a series of wild strikes but Hicks uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Hicks closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Vega's guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Hicks's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Hicks advances position into side control! Hicks is staying tight to Vega's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vega wants to get back to his feet but Hicks drags him back down. Vega is breathing heavily. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hicks wants to stand but Vega has his arm trapped. Hicks controls the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bud Hicks. Hicks drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hicks trying to stand up but can't free himself from Vega's guard. Hicks won't allow Vega to sweep him here. Vega has momentary wrist control but Hicks slips an elbow through the middle. Hicks sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Vega's guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hicks connects with a nice short shot to Vega's temple. Well, if Hicks is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Hicks seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Vega for as long as he can get away with.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hicks decides to stand up. Vega gets caught flat footed, as Hicks shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Hicks has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Vega is proving hard to escape from. Vega can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hicks controls the pace. Hicks advances position into side control! Hicks controls the position from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hicks advances to mount. Hicks lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Vega tries to improve his position but Hicks has taken his back! Hicks has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Vega tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Hicks pushes Vega away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bud Hicks!
