Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Idi Ota!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Seb Winnick!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winnick fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ota checks it well.
Ota moves to clinch but Winnick breaks away

and Winnick counters with a head kick that drops Ota to the mat! Ota scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Winnick fails to land the takedown.
Ota tries to close the distance and clinch up but Winnick swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Winnick changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ota looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
An elbow from Winnick crashes against the mat.

Winnick tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Winnick wants to stand but Ota is controlling his arm.

Ota pushes Winnick away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Winnick gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Winnick is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Ota's shoulder. That is not cool.

Winnick tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Winnick takes a little break here. Ota wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ota is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Winnick has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Winnick in side control, just content to control the action for now.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Seb Winnick hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Ota stuffs the takedown.
Winnick fails with a takedown attempt.
Idi Ota has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Seb Winnick.
Ota tries to clinch up.
Ota closes the distance looking to clinch

and Winnick counters by moving into the clinch.
Ota misses with some punches.
Winnick is trying to push Ota away but Ota has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Winnick tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ota avoids it.
Ota prevents the takedown attempt.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Winnick jumps guard.
Ota won't allow Winnick to sweep him here.
Winnick doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Winnick pulls Ota in close to his closed guard and prevents Ota from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Ota looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Winnick connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.


It looks like Idi Ota has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Winnick holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seb Winnick dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Idi Ota's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Ota tries to clinch there but Winnick circles away.
Idi Ota seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Winnick throws a head kick but Ota moves out of range.

Winnick moves into the clinch.
Winnick is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ota to keep the fight standing.
A bit of stalling here from Ota.
Our sources have told us that Ota has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Ota for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Winnick gets control of Ota's arms and successfully pulls guard. Winnick will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Ota wants to stand and escape but instead Winnick has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Winnick is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Winnick stops Ota from standing up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Seb Winnick hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Ota moves in looking to clinch but Winnick pushes him off.

and Winnick counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Winnick shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ota pinned against the cage. Ota gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Winnick fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ota avoids it really well and circles away.

and Winnick counters with a two punch combo.

Ota tries to keep at a distance but Winnick has taken the fight into the clinch.
Winnick goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Ota throws a punch but it's blocked by Winnick.
Winnick is looking for a takedown.

Ota tries a knee to the head but Winnick blocks it.
Ota scores a nice knee to the body.
Winnick has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Winnick goes for a takedown attempt but Ota pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Winnick tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ota was well out of range. Poor timing from Winnick.
Ota is looking to clinch but Winnick is avoiding it.

Ota moves into the clinch successfully.
The referee calls for Ota to work.
Winnick is trying to maintain a safe position but Ota gets an underhook and turns Winnick into the cage.
Ota stalls.

Winnick manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Winnick is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Winnick working for a triangle but Ota defends it easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ota tries to clinch up

and Winnick counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Winnick.
Ota stalling in the clinch but Winnick improves position.
Ota tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ota.
Winnick tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ota smiles and moves away.
Winnick's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Winnick duly obliges.
Winnick keeps the fight on the outside.

Winnick gets a clinch.
Ota trying to control the position but instead, Winnick has worked for underhooks and has pushed Ota into the cage.
Ota is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Winnick is defending well for now.

Ota throws a knee to the head but misses.

Winnick is trying to trip Ota. He has hold of a leg but Ota is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Winnick persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Winnick controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Winnick trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ota's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Seb Winnick.
Winnick shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ota as he avoids it easily.

Winnick pushes Ota up against the cage in a clinch.
Winnick wants to break the clinch but can't.

Winnick pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Idi Ota is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ota uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Winnick.
Ota tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Winnick paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Seb Winnick seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Winnick circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ota stuffs the takedown.

and Winnick counters with a good, hard body kick but Ota shrugs it off.
Ota closes the distance but Winnick moves to the side

and Winnick counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ota's guard now.

Ota is trying to stand up here but Winnick is controlling him well.

Seb Winnick is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
