PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Venture (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kid Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Venture comes to the cage accompanied by Party Hard by Andrew W.K.. Joe comes into a darkened arena with his song building. (Ugly kid joe) Everything about you kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jason Venture!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kid Joe!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice shot by Joe.
Joe throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Venture on the side of the head.

Joe closes the distance and pushes Venture back into the cage.
Venture tries to work over Joe's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Venture lands a right hand that snaps the head of Joe backwards.
Venture is trying to break the clinch but Joe has him pressed against the cage.
Joe lands a nice uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Joe pulls Venture into guard.
Joe has his hands on Venture's head, controlling the position.

Venture drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Venture jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Joe preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Joe holds on and takes a little breather.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Joe's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Kid Joe has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Joe throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Venture tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Joe is in Venture's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Joe with a flurry of punches that miss.
Joe trying to control the position from guard on top but Venture is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've been hearing good reports from Venture's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Venture doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Joe chips away with some ground and pound.

Venture is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Joe defends well.

Joe makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Joe controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Joe landing some decent shots from guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Joe is in close to Venture's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Joe distracts Venture with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Joe pushes down on Venture's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Joe working over Venture with some ground and pound. Venture looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Joe is just content to waste time from the top position. Venture takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Joe has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Venture looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Joe is stalling in the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Venture isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Joe stacks Venture on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Joe!
Joe is chipping away with strikes.
Joe looks up at the clock and then as Venture takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Joe smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Joe scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Venture to see if he's OK.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Joe lands an elbow.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Venture throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Venture is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Check out the look on Joe's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kid Joe dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Joe throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Joe looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Venture!
Venture is working to avoid the ground and pound but Joe connects with a decent elbow.
Joe has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Venture!
Joe lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Joe with a couple of short strikes.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Joe working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Joe sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
A nice elbow there by Joe.


Venture is rocked!
Joe connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Joe looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Oh Venture is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Joe lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Venture! Joe sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Venture and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Kid Joe!
Kid Joe very nearly forgot to thank Cold Blooded Kemists ↑ 5x160Q amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
The defeated Jason Venture had this to say: 'I partied a bit too hard... thanks to all my fans! I'll show up sober next time! '.
