PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Geodude Golem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Golem has chosen Geo dude geo geo dude as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 34 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Geodude Golem!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Golem gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows James to score an easy takedown into full guard.
James loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

James throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

James distracts Golem with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
James is in close to Golem's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
James sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Golem's guard.

James scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

James is nestled in close to Golem, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

James is looking for a kimura here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Golem can do anything to dispel that myth.

James thows a huge punch but Golem dodges it nicely.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Golem is looking to improve his position.

James looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

James working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Golem wants to control but James is keeping busy and won't allow it.

James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
James thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Golem's head.
Golem is looking to control James's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Golem avoid being mounted?
Golem blocking the ground and pound attempt from James.
James looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Golem with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Golem really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
James is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James with a couple of short strikes.
James postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Golem is out cold - huge knockout for James!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Alex James!
A relieved looking Alex James thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
