Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikey Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Paulo Alves! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mikey Kim! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big left from Alves misses. Nice takedown defense from Kim. No joy for Alves on that attempt. Alves avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

A head kick misses from Alves. Kim forces Alves back against the ropes and clinches. Kim breaks from the clinch.
Kim throws a leg kick but Alves checks it. Alves has a takedown stuffed. Alves stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kim. Kim lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Alves is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Alves scores a takedown into full mount! Oh Alves is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Kim sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Kim tries to roll over but Alves keeps him under control. Alves seems to have got his legs back now.

Kim wants to sweep but Alves has passed to side control! Alves trying to control the position but Kim is working away. Alves is breathing heavily. Kim wants to get back to his feet. Kim tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Alves presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Kim is squirming around, avoiding Alves's attempts to control the action.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Kim keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Kim really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kim throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Kim bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Kim throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alves works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kim with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Kim lands a couple of digs. Kim is working Alves over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. He's got his arms around Kim's waist but Kim gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alves off to one side. Kim is looking to stand up but Alves isn't so interested in that idea. Kim wants to get back to his feet but Alves passes into half guard.

Kim is staying active underneath Alves, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Kim has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Alves is working away from the top position though. Kim is trying to stand up here but Alves is controlling him well.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kim connects with a nice short shot to Alves's temple.

He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Kim moves in looking to clinch but Alves pushes him off. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Alves. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. A control attempt from Alves but he's now mounted! Alves is squirming around, avoiding Kim's attempts to control the action.

Alves wants to control but Kim is having none of it. Kim has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Alves is working to get back to half guard.
Kim quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Kim but it's paid off an Alves is forced to tap! Nice work by Kim.
