McLennan is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Irish Rover - The Pogues. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mauro Hansen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe McLennan!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Columbo Gatti and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McLennan misses with a hook

and Hansen counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hansen.
Hansen working aggressively here.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Hansen fails to pull guard.
Nice elbow from McLennan.


It looks like Mauro Hansen has been cut.
A short uppercut from McLennan.
McLennan is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
McLennan misses with a hook from the clinch.
Hansen trying to control the position but instead, McLennan has worked for underhooks and has pushed Hansen into the cage.
McLennan prevents a takedown attempt there.
Hansen tries to pull guard but McLennan forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mauro Hansen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for McLennan.

McLennan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hansen shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McLennan defends it nicely.
Joe McLennan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McLennan looks to land a left hand but Hansen moved out of range nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Some wild striking there from McLennan.
Hansen on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Hansen paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
McLennan throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
McLennan misses with a two punch combination.
McLennan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hansen tries to clinch up but McLennan circles away and keeps his distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hansen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
McLennan misses with an uppercut. Hansen saw that one coming.
Hansen closes this distance looking for a takedown but McLennan circles away.
Hansen shoots in looking for a takedown. McLennan tries to sprawl out of it but Hansen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McLennan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
McLennan dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hansen. That did some damage!
Hansen is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McLennan throws a jab when Hansen was well out of range.
McLennan lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


Mauro Hansen's cut is getting worse.
McLennan looks to throw the jab but Hansen is out of range.
McLennan ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Hansen's jaw. Hansen's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! McLennan does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Joe McLennan!
