Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Tuppkam! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shaun McCann! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McCann throws a series of punches but Tuppkam moves out of range. Tuppkam looks to land a combination but McCann avoids it well. McCann throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Tuppkam closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. McCann did well to prevent Tuppkam getting side control. McCann is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Tuppkam scores with a couple of nice shots. McCann should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. McCann looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Tuppkam drops an elbow to the side of McCann's head. Tuppkam seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. McCann is trying to stand.
Tuppkam working the head and body with strikes. McCann on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McCann manages to get to full guard.
McCann told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. McCann is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Tuppkam is aware though and is defending well. Tuppkam scoring with some ground and pound. Tuppkam connects with a couple of short punches. Tuppkam scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Tuppkam tries to free his leg and advance position but McCann is retaining full guard. Tuppkam knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McCann on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tuppkam gets to his feet and stands over McCann, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! McCann felt that one! Tuppkam unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save McCann from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Daniel Tuppkam!
