Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dallas Riley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riley shoots in but Johnson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Riley looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Riley throws a body punch but Johnson moves out of range.
Johnson avoids the head kick by Riley.
Riley tries for a takedown but Johnson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Nice takedown defense from Johnson. No joy for Riley on that attempt.

Riley shoots in but Johnson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Riley fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johnson avoids it really well and circles away.

Riley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

and Johnson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Riley is trying to control the position but Johnson postures up.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Johnson gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Riley wants to clinch but Johnson slips to the side

and Johnson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Riley changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Riley manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Riley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Johnson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Riley throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jab, jab by Riley - just one landing.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Riley.
Dallas Riley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Riley tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Johnson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Johnson.
Riley tries to pull guard but Johnson holds him up against the cage and eventually Riley drops back down to his feet.

and Johnson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Riley tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Johnson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Riley tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Johnson defends well and Riley ends up having to push Johnson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

You can see the frustration on Riley's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Johnson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Riley looks to land a combination but Johnson avoids it well.
Riley darts in looking for a takedown but Johnson gets double underhooks and turns Riley into the cage.

Riley is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Riley wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Riley shoots in but no luck this time.
Johnson swats away the attempt to clinch by Riley.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

John Johnson is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Johnson stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
