Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cleveland Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Khashanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cleveland Cox! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alex Khashanov! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Konstantin Menshow and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Khashanov shoots in and drives through. Cox sprawls well. Khashanov shoots in but no luck this time. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Khashanov is defended easily by Cox. Cleveland Cox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Khashanov. Cox shoots in for a takedown but Khashanov shows good takedown defense. Cox goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Alex Khashanov has been cut. Cox shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Khashanov defends it nicely. Cox tries to clinch up. Cox defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Khashanov. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Khashanov goes for a double leg but Cox avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cox continues to drive forward. Cox scores with a nice hook to the head. Khashanov has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Cox could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Cox as Khashanov tries to tie him up. Khashanov tries to break the clinch but Cox is controlling the position. Cox keeps control of Khashanov as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Khashanov gets underhooks to prevent Cox's takedown attempt.
A battle for position here, against the cage. Khashanov has had enough of the clinch but Cox keeps him there for the moment. Khashanov looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Khashanov tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Cox avoids it. Cox is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Khashanov to keep the fight standing. Cox lands a nice uppercut. Khashanov misses with a knee to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Khashanov managing to block the knees to the body from Cox.
Cox breaks the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Khashanov. No joy for Cox on that attempt. Khashanov looking to score a takedown here. Cox is defending well but Khashanov drives through and ends up in Cox's guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Cox avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Khashanov makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Khashanov decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cox, up you get! Khashanov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cox as he jumps to the side. Khashanov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cox sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. No luck for Khashanov with that takedown attempt. Cox shoots in and drives through. Khashanov sprawls well. Cox throws a head kick but Khashanov moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cox shoots in looking for a takedown but Khashanov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cox's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Cox tries to sprawl but Khashanov drives through with a takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cox is breathing heavily. Khashanov lands with a punch from half guard. Khashanov winds up and cracks Cox with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Cox taking some punishment here, with Khashanov in his half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Khashanov lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Khashanov stands up from half guard. Excellent takedown into side control there by Khashanov. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Khashanov working the head with strikes. Cox takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Khashanov lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Cox down.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Khashanov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cox keeps working. Khashanov in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Khashanov working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Khashanov lands an elbow.
Cox is rocked! Khashanov scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Cox is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Khashanov can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alex Khashanov!
