The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shingleton clinches up with Cote and pushes him back against the cage.
Shingleton gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cote.
Shingleton avoiding damage.
Shingleton using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Cote has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Shingleton has Cote pressed against the cage, preventing Cote from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Shingleton misses with a knee strike.
Cote tries for a takedown but Shingleton manages to get underhooks.

Cote manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Cote looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Shingleton looking to sit in guard and control but Cote gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Shingleton working a defensive guard but Cote passes into half guard.

Let's hope that Cote has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Shingleton on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shingleton tries to get out of the position.
Cote is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Cote is trying to control. Shingleton wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Shingleton trying to hold on to Cote's head to control him but Cote postures up.
Shingleton wants to improve his position but Cote is controlling well.

Cote maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Shingleton could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Cote has cracked it and Shingleton is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Cote!
