Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mike Carpenter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masahiro Itagaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mike Carpenter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masahiro Itagaki!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carpenter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Itagaki tries to avoid it but Carpenter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Itagaki to the ground. Itagaki escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Itagaki connects with a right hand. Carpenter shakes it off.
It looks like Mike Carpenter has been cut.
Carpenter throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Itagaki doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Carpenter counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Carpenter decides to pull guard.
Itagaki throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Carpenter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Itagaki is one step ahead there.
Carpenter preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Carpenter keeping moving, preventing Itagaki from controlling successfully.
Carpenter tries to strike from the bottom.
Itagaki is fighting to break Carpenter's control of his arms but Carpenter is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Itagaki wants to clinch but Carpenter slips to the side
and Carpenter counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Carpenter.
Itagaki tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Carpenter is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Itagaki pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Itagaki stalls.
Carpenter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Itagaki scores with a head kick. Carpenter tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Carpenter drives through and clinches with Itagaki against the cage.
Itagaki breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Itagaki tries to clinch
and Carpenter counters with a nice double leg into side control. Itagaki won't be happy with that.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carpenter controls the position from side control.
Carpenter really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Carpenter wants to stand but Itagaki has his arm trapped.
Carpenter misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Carpenter just content to control the position.
Carpenter has hold of Itagaki's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Itagaki tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Carpenter cranks the arm and Itagaki screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Itagaki, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Mike Carpenter!
