Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dylan Schmeyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Trevor Philips!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Philips walks into a left hand.
Schmeyer stalks Philips and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Philips's face. Philips staggers backwards, shaken.
Philips misses with a wild combination.
Trevor Philips seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sloppy strikes from Schmeyer. Those never looked like landing.
Philips missing with a left hand there. Schmeyer was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Schmeyer misses with a jab, cross combination.
Philips connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Philips throws a hook to the side of Schmeyer's head but Schmeyer sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Philips looks to land a combination but Schmeyer avoids it well.
Philips cracks Schmeyer with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Schmeyer ducks under a wild hook from Philips.

Philips dips to his left and cracks Schmeyer with an uppercut!
Philips fails to land with a series of punches.

Philips gets caught flat footed, as Schmeyer shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Schmeyer wants to pass the guard but Philips is keeping the position.
Schmeyer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Philips is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Schmeyer is staying active underneath Philips, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Schmeyer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Schmeyer tries to get out of the position.
Schmeyer is trying to stand back up but Philips is controlling him
Philips wants to take a breather but Schmeyer is having none of it.
Philips is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Schmeyer is squirming around, avoiding Philips's attempts to control the action.

Philips won't let Schmeyer get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Philips looking for a guillotine from mount but Schmeyer is having none of it.
Schmeyer tries to buck Philips off but he can't manage it.
Philips fails to take his opponent's back.

Philips looking to secure an arm triangle but Schmeyer defends it well.
Schmeyer's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Schmeyer trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Philips trying to control but Schmeyer is having none of it.

Philips is working for a guillotine from mount but Schmeyer frees his head quite easily.
Schmeyer is squirming around, avoiding Philips's attempts to control the action.
Schmeyer is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Philips takes Schmeyer's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Schmeyer is in trouble.

Philips has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Schmeyer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Philips on the ground.
Schmeyer holding both Philips 's hands and preventing any damage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Philips has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Schmeyer! Can he survive? No! He's out! Philips gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
