Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kaleo Makua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicolas Arenas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kaleo Makua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nicolas Arenas!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arenas goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Kaleo Makua has been cut.
Arenas throws a combination that misses

and Makua counters by clinching up.

Makua has Arenas pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Makua pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Arenas tumbling to the mat - Makua dives into Arenas's guard.
Makua throwing strikes from guard but Arenas blocks nicely.
Makua tries to free his leg and advance position but Arenas is retaining full guard.
Arenas is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Makua passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Makua trying to control the position but Arenas is working away.
Arenas wants to get back to his feet but Makua drags him back down.

Makua misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Arenas is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Makua has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Arenas is not content to let Makua control the position.
Makua has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Makua has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Arenas!
Makua lands with some strikes.
Arenas wants to get back to his feet.

Makua looking to control but Arenas is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Makua takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Makua can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Arenas is looking to escape.
Arenas trying desperately to get to his feet.
Arenas looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Makua wants to control the pace but Arenas is squirming around nicely.

Makua is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Arenas is surviving well by controlling Makua's body position as best he can.
Arenas's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Makua wants to control the pace but Arenas is squirming around nicely.
Arenas is controlling an arm, preventing Makua from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Makua swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Arenas is now in Makua's guard. A big mistake from Makua there, giving up the dominant position!
Arenas won't allow Makua to sweep him here.
Arenas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Makua is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Arenas is aware though and is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Makua had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Arenas defends it easily.

Makua looking for a guillotine here but Arenas defends easily.
Makua is trying to keep Arenas in close.
Arenas wants to stand but Makua is controlling his posture from full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Makua has an active guard here but Arenas has managed to pass into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Arenas throws a right and a left that Makua avoids nicely.
Arenas misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Makua looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Makua misses with a takedown
and Arenas counters with a three punch combo that has Makua backing up. Makua nods at Arenas to acknowledge the strikes.
Arenas swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Makua counters with a body kick that stops Arenas in his tracks momentarily.
Arenas lands with an overhand left.
Arenas throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sloppy strikes from Makua. Those never looked like landing.

Makua gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Makua breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kaleo Makua is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A punch combination from Arenas misses.
Arenas scores with a nice strike.
Makua shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Arenas but Arenas pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Nicolas Arenas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Arenas's jab looks to have found its range, popping Makua under the eye.
Makua misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nicolas Arenas seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Makua fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kaleo Makua. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Arenas fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Arenas throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Makua fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Makua shoots in for a takedown but Arenas shows good takedown defense.
Arenas tries to bum rush Makua with a series of wild strikes but Makua uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Makua shoots for a double leg takedown but Arenas sprawls well. He's pushed Makua's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Arenas throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Makua takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Arenas lands a jab to the head.
Sloppy strikes from Arenas. Those never looked like landing.
Makua misses with a two punch combination.
Makua avoids a punch combination nicely.
Arenas with a nice cross.


Kaleo Makua's cut is getting worse.
Arenas throws a left and a right that both miss

and Makua counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Arenas keeping full guard, as Makua tries to pass.
Makua prevents Arenas from getting back to his feet.
Makua is pushing down on Arenas's leg trying to pass to half guard. Arenas is fighting to maintain full guard but Makua has managed to sneak the leg through.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Arenas is not content to let Makua control the position.

Arenas is defending against the submission attempts here by Makua.

Makua wants to work for an arm triangle but Arenas is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Makua is trying to control the action in half guard but Arenas is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Makua looks to land a strike but Arenas avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Arenas is looking to stand up but Makua isn't so interested in that idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nicolas Arenas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Makua shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Arenas but Arenas pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Arenas tries to bum rush Makua with a series of wild strikes but Makua uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nice straight punches there by Arenas. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Arenas.
Arenas bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Makua's head.
Arenas misses with a wild combination.
Makua looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Arenas scores with a jab to the head.
Makua takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Makua looks for a takedown but Arenas sprawls well.
Arenas slips a straight right by Makua.
No joy there for Arenas, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Danga de danga de dang - Arenas scores with a four punch combination!
Arenas lands a nice shot to the body.
Makua misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Makua takes one to the chin there.

A right-left combo lands from Arenas.


Kaleo Makua's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Makua has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Makua there as he acknowledges the shot.


Makua is rocked!
Arenas works over Makua's head and body with a nice combination.
Oh Makua is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Arenas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Arenas cracks Makua on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Makua falls backwards against the cage. Arenas follows up with more strikes that drop Makua to his knees. Arenas keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Makua! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nicolas Arenas!
An out of breath Nicolas Arenas thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
The defeated Kaleo Makua had this to say: 'THANKS TO MY LORD JAH ALL THANKS AND PRAISES GO OUT TO HIM ALL DAY EVERYDAY.'.
