Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rhys Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ross comes to the cage accompanied by Neck of the Woods. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Ross! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Rhys Evans! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Evans misses with a jab, cross combination.
No joy there for Evans, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Evans on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Evans pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ross scores with a kick to the body.
Evans throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Evans throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Evans tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Ross thumps Evans with a low kick. Evans on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Ross. Ross obviously looking to wear him down.
Ross scores with a hook to the body. Evans takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Evans looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. A slapping leg kick lands for Ross.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ross lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Evans shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Evans being controlled here momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ross is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Ross landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Ross frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Ross controlling the position easily from mount. Evans is trying to escape the mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ross lands a big elbow. Evans manages to regain half guard. Good work. Ross is figuring out what he wants to do next. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Evans pushes Ross off looking to stand but Ross dives back in and keeps control.
Ross thows a huge punch but Evans dodges it nicely.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ross drops an elbow to the side of Evans's head. Ross working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Ross thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Ross lands strikes from half guard. Ross trying to control the action but Evans is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Evans wants to improve his position but Ross is controlling well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ross wants to control but Evans is keeping him busy. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Evans tries to roll over but Ross keeps him under control. Ross working the head and body with strikes. Evans looks like he's trying to stand up.
Evans is looking to control Ross's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Evans avoid being mounted? Ross sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Evans defending well though. Evans tries to get to full guard but Ross has control of the leg. Evans wants to control but Ross is keeping busy.

Ross wants to control from the top but Evans keeps moving. Ross lands a couple of digs. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Evans working a defensive guard here.

Ross slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. A shot to the liver by Ross. Beautiful body shot. Ross fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Evans has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Ross slips a jab from Evans. Ross looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Ross.
Ross works the jab nicely. Ross scores with a punch to the head. Mike Ross is winning the standup battle so far. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ross lands a front kick. Evans fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. The fight moves into the clinch position. Ross has Evans pressed against the cage, preventing Evans from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ross lands a hook that snaps the head of Evans backwards. Evans tries to break the clinch but Ross is controlling the position. Ross breaks the clinch.
Ross throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Evans throws a series of punches but Ross avoids them all with ease. Evans misses with an attempted mid kick.
Evans tries to clinch up but Ross circles away and keeps his distance. Ross goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Ross lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Ross lands a nice leg kick that just misses Evans's sensitive parts. Ross blocks a head kick by Evans.
Evans throws a front kick aimed at Ross's knee but Ross avoids it well. Evans takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. A swing and a miss from Ross. Evans lands a jab-cross combination. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ross instigates a clinch.

A battle for position here, against the cage. Ross can't get the takedown.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Ross is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Evans is keeping busy. Evans is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Ross scores with a shoulder strike. Evans misses with a hook to the ribs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ross leaning his opponent against the cage. Ross working some nice short punches in the clinch. Ross lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Ross dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Ross lands a takedown into guard.
Evans is trying to control the position but Ross postures up. Evans wants to sweep but no luck. Ross trying to control but Evans is working from the bottom. Ross throws a big elbow that misses. Ross throwing strikes from guard but Evans blocks nicely. Evans controls Ross momentarily but Ross frees himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ross is looking to work some ground and pound but Evans has wrist control. Evans trying to keep a closed guard but Ross is proving a slippery customer.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Rhys Evans hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Ross fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Evans takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Evans looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. A slapping leg kick lands for Ross.

Mike Ross dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Evans takes a kick to the side of the head. Evans misses with a jab, cross combination.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ross. Rhys Evans is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Evans steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ross. A clash of legs there as Evans blocks the low kick. Ross throws a nice inside leg kick. Evans throws a body punch but Ross moves out of range. Ross lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Ross checks a low kick from Evans. Mike Ross seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ross stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Evans throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Ross fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Evans. Ross darts in and out, connecting with a jab. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Evans closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ross to the mat! Ross manages to get full guard. Ross is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Evans takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Evans tries to get to full guard but Ross has control of the leg. Ross is looking to advance position but Evans won't allow it. Mike Ross overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Evans wants to get back to full guard. Evans has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Ross is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Ross takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Evans keeping control of the position. Ross with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ross is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Well, if Ross is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Evans is refusing to be controlled, as Ross sits in half guard. Ross works his foot free and advances to mount. Evans bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Ross is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Evans can do to turn this around? Ross is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Evans stopping the sweep attempt from Ross. Ross utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Evans throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ross works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Ross pulls Evans in to control the position. Ross might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ross keeping full guard, as Evans tries to pass. Evans must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ross is on top in guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Mike Ross showed his dominance in that final round. Well Ross has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
