The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connen pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Connen doesn't manage to clinch there - Statham circles away.

and Statham counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Connen!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Statham looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Connen is avoiding damage well.

Connen wants to get back to his feet.

Connen is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at SWF GYM that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Statham goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Connen rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Statham's guard! Nice work there by Connen!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Connen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
