The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Tarja Halkonen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevenson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Ross counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Stevenson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ross is working away from the top position though.
Stevenson is pressing down on Ross's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Ross has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Adonis Stevenson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Stevenson counters with a left and a right that stings Ross.

Ross pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Stevenson avoids the body shot from Ross.
Ross closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Stevenson is trying to maintain the position but Ross is very close to passing his half guard.
Stevenson wants to improve his position but Ross is controlling well.

Stevenson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stevenson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Stevenson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ross keeps working.

Stevenson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ross but Ross pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
