Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rikiya Sonoda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kshitij Singh Negi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Singh Negi is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by 2pac - Raise Up. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kshitij Singh Negi was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rikiya Sonoda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kshitij Singh Negi!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Singh Negi forces Sonoda back against the cage and clinches.
Nice elbow from Singh Negi.


It looks like Rikiya Sonoda has been cut.
Singh Negi tries to land knees in the clinch but Sonoda avoids the damage to the body.

Singh Negi lands an elbow inside that Sonoda shrugs off.
Singh Negi lands a nice elbow.
Singh Negi told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Sonoda throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Singh Negi with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Sonoda takes an elbow to the forehead.


Rikiya Sonoda's cut is getting worse.

Sonoda pulls guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Singh Negi wants to get up but he can't break Sonoda's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sonoda working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Singh Negi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Singh Negi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Singh Negi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sonoda has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Singh Negi has managed to get both his arms back between Sonoda's legs - danger averted.

Singh Negi wanted to stand there but Sonoda had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sonoda wants to sweep but no luck.
Singh Negi is looking to stand up but Sonoda won't let him.
Sonoda definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Sonoda is looking to stand up but Singh Negi isn't so interested in that idea.
Singh Negi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sonoda trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sonoda has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Singh Negi should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Sonoda has tightened it up now! Singh Negi should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Rikiya Sonoda!
An intense looking Rikiya Sonoda took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'Bringin' the pain Thanks to Team Goroshi - Blacksmith Gym - Tokyo United Fightwear - Zombie Nutrition'.
The defeated Kshitij Singh Negi had this to say: 'mothafucka!! i fucking demand a rematch.'.
