Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Michael Hussey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Eel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Hussey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eric Eel! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hussey swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Eel counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Hussey wants to break the clinch but can't.
Eel gets control of Hussey's arms and successfully pulls guard. Eel will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Hussey avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hussey pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Eel is keeping the position for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hussey postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hussey loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Eel escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hussey gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Eel avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hussey. Hussey looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hussey missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Hussey is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Eel is just riding it out for now. Hussey eventually gives up the hold.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eel is staying active underneath Hussey, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Hussey prevents Eel from improving his position. Hussey thows a huge punch but Eel dodges it nicely.
Eel felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Eel is trying to stand.
Hussey wants to take a breather but Eel is having none of it. Hussey passes to side control. Hussey misses with the ground and pound. Hussey tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Eel is trying to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Eel manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hussey's best efforts. Eel keeps control of the position for the meantime. Hussey tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Hussey working over Eel with some ground and pound. Eel looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Hussey throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Eel is looking for a sweep. Hussey is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hussey not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Hussey throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Eel darts in and clinches Hussey up against the cage. Eel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Hussey looks to land a right hand but Eel moved out of range. Hussey smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Eel fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Hussey stuns Eel with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Eel gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Hussey working aggressively here.
Eel slowing the pace effectively. Eel lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Hussey wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Eel has him pressed against the cage. Hussey tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Eel is looking for a takedown. Eel breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hussey shoots in looking for a takedown but Eel manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hussey's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hussey tries to keep at a distance but Eel has taken the fight into the clinch. Hussey tries to break free but Eel pushes him back against the cage. Eel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hussey walks away with a smile on his face. Eel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Michael Hussey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric Eel. Hussey throws a hook but Eel avoids it easily. Eel defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hussey. Eric Eel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hussey stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Hussey misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Eel.
Eel scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Hussey is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Eel tries to move to mount but Hussey blocks the move with his legs. Eel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hussey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hussey tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Eel looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Eel can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hussey is looking to escape. Hussey manages to regain half guard. Good work. Eel is looking to advance position but Hussey won't allow it. Eel tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Hussey.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Eel is looking to take a break and control but Hussey is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Michael Hussey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hussey trying to control but Eel postures up.
Eel is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Eel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Eel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Eel trying to control but Hussey is working from the bottom. Hussey lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Eel! Hussey punching from mount but Eel doing a good job of avoiding damage. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hussey thowing shots but they're missing. Eel is trying to escape the mount.

A close second round but Eric Eel will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Hussey gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Eel counters with a body kick that stops Hussey in his tracks momentarily. Eel looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hussey is fending him off so far but Eel persists. Nope, Hussey circles away and we're back to standing. Eel clinches up against the cage. Hussey working hard to break the clinch. Eel gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Hussey regains guard.
Hussey is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Hussey is trying to control the position but Eel postures up. Hussey wants to sweep here but Eel controlling him for the moment. Eel throws a strike but Hussey rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Eel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Hussey is tightening it up a little... Eel has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Eel reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Eel taps out! Nice BJJ there by Hussey!
