Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gordon Gummidge! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Franklin Marrow! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marrow avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Gummidge throws a leg kick but Marrow sees it coming and moves out of range. Gummidge lands with a shot to the body. Marrow fails with a takedown attempt. Marrow feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Marrow showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Gummidge is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Gummidge working the head and body with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marrow wants to get back to his feet.
Marrow moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Gummidge postures up.
Marrow is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Marrow keeping moving, preventing Gummidge from controlling successfully. Marrow wants to stand and escape but Gummidge is having none of it. Gummidge slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Gummidge wants to stand but Marrow is controlling his arm.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The ground and pound from Gummidge seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Gummidge wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marrow keeps working. Gummidge has hold of Marrow's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Marrow seems comfortable defending it but Gummidge has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Marrow is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Marrow is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Gummidge couldn't care less - he's delighted!
