Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Royce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ivan Abbott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Royce Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Eliza Hachem and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Abbott counters by clinching up.
Abbott manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Gracie jumps guard but Abbott turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Abbott escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Abbott looking to score a takedown here. Gracie is defending well but Abbott drives through and ends up in Gracie's guard.
Abbott wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.
Abbott missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Gracie trying to keep a closed guard but Abbott is proving a slippery customer.
Abbott slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Gracie looking to hit a scissor sweep but Abbott is one step ahead there.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ivan Abbott just wasn't active enough.

Abbott shoots in and bounces Gracie off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Gracie looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Abbott has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Abbott gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Gracie gets caught flat footed, as Abbott shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Abbott is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Gracie is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Abbott seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Abbott looking to sit in guard and control but Gracie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Abbott is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
It looks like Abbott is going to stand back up.

Abbott tries to pass to full mount but Gracie defends it.

Abbott is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gracie doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Abbott.
Abbott wants to stand up but Gracie has a hold of him and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Abbott feints and as Gracie raises his hands in defense, Abbott changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gracie is trying to keep Abbott in close.
Abbott seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Abbott drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Gracie dives on top into guard.

Gracie trying to control but Abbott is working from the bottom.
Abbott might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Abbott is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Royce Gracie.

Gracie gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Abbott is now in half guard.
Gracie is breathing heavily.
Gracie wants to control but Abbott is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Abbott controlling the pace.
Gracie works his way to full guard. Good work.
Gracie controls Abbott momentarily but Abbott frees himself.
Abbott controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ivan Abbott just wasn't active enough.
Abbott throws a head kick that misses.

Abbott shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gracie's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Abbott seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Abbott landing some decent shots from guard.
Gracie looking to hit a scissor sweep but Abbott is one step ahead there.

Gracie preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Abbott advances to half guard.
Gracie moves into full guard.

Abbott postures up.
Abbott is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Abbott would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Gracie wants to stand and escape but Abbott is having none of it.
Abbott scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Gracie wants to hit a switch here but Abbott passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Gracie there!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gracie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Abbott dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Abbott throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gracie was covering up waiting for the punch and Abbott finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Abbott passes Gracie's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Abbott wants to pass the guard but Gracie is defending well.
Gracie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Abbott is taking a breather. Gracie says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Gracie takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Abbott wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working.

Abbott moves into full mount! Gracie won't be happy about that!
Gracie regains half guard.
Abbott is pressing down on Gracie's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gracie is holding on for now.
Gracie trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Abbott manages to pass to mount!
Abbott tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Gracie is trying to escape the mount.

Abbott could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
BOOM! Abbott connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Gracie tries to reverse the position but Abbott maintains control.

Gracie in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Abbott putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Abbott scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Abbott postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gracie looks a forlorn figure.
Abbott has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gracie's face.

Gracie is wriggling around trying to escape.

Abbott seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gracie for as long as he can get away with.

Abbott is looking to stand but Abbott has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Abbott cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Abbott avoids the attempt from Gracie to control.
Royce Gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ivan Abbott is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Ivan Abbott showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Abbott has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
