Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Roy Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Swanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matt Swanson struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roy Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Swanson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swanson throws a sloppy head kick
and Jones counters with a straight right hand.
Jones moves into the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Swanson fails to land.
Swanson struggles to land a body shot inside as Jones controls his hands.
Swanson throws a punch but it's blocked by Jones.
Swanson gets control of Jones's arms and successfully pulls guard. Swanson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Jones throwing strikes but missing.
Jones content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
It looks like Matt Swanson has been cut.
Swanson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Swanson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jones drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Jones seems to have locked his on tight now - Swanson screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Jones, as he picks up the win!
