PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stefan Cikredon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Randolph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stefan Cikredon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Randolph!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cikredon moves into the clinch.
Randolph wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cikredon has him pressed against the cage.
Cikredon lands with a left to the head.
Randolph is looking to break free of the clinch but Cikredon has double underhooks.
Cikredon looking for a takedown.
Cikredon fails to pull guard.
Cikredon will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Randolph up against the cage.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Randolph has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Randolph looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Randolph has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Cikredon goes for a takedown attempt but Randolph pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stefan Cikredon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Randolph throws a body kick that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cikredon gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Cikredon is trying to pull guard but Randolph has him pressed against the cage.
A battle for position here, against the cage.

Cikredon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cikredon slips a jab and a cross from Randolph.

Cikredon feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Cikredon working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Randolph is looking to stand up but Cikredon isn't so interested in that idea.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Randolph really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cikredon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cikredon wants to control from the top but Randolph keeps moving.
Cikredon showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Stefan Cikredon has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Cikredon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Cikredon is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cikredon will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Randolph defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cikredon.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A thudding body kick lands there by Cikredon!
Randolph thows a left - swing and a miss!
Cikredon shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Randolph pinned against the cage. Randolph gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Randolph scores with a hook.
Cikredon fails in his attempt to clinch.
Randolph connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Randolph tries to land a front kick but Cikredon steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Randolph lands a big head kick that sends Cikredon tumbling to the mat! Randolph takes a step backwards and waves Cikredon back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Cikredon is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cikredon avoids the head kick by Randolph.
Oh Cikredon is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Randolph misses with a body kick.
Cikredon stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Randolph.
Cikredon seems to have got his legs back now.
Randolph throws a sloppy head kick and Cikredon moves out of range easily.
Jab, jab by Randolph - just one landing.
Randolph lands a big head kick that sends Cikredon to the canvas! Randolph follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Randolph!
