Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Trent Duncan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duncan clinches up against the cage.

Duncan breaks the clinch.
Duncan shoots in but no luck this time.
Anderson has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Duncan is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Duncan bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Anderson tries to clinch up

and Duncan moves into the clinch.

Duncan decides to pull guard.

Duncan kicks Anderson off and gets to his feet.
Anderson fails with a takedown attempt.

Duncan moves into range and clinches up with Anderson.
Anderson misses with a knee strike.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Duncan breaks the clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Duncan is defended easily by Anderson.
Anderson throws a sloppy head kick and Duncan moves out of range easily.
Anderson looks winded!
Duncan fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trent Duncan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Duncan misses with a wild body shot.
Duncan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Duncan darts in looking for a takedown but Anderson gets double underhooks and turns Duncan into the cage.
Duncan can't find room to land a body shot as Anderson controls the action.
Anderson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Anderson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Anderson tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Duncan avoids it.
Duncan putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Anderson in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Anderson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Duncan misses with a head kick.
Duncan shoots in for a double leg but Anderson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Duncan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Anderson as he avoids it easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Duncan.
Duncan fails with a takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Duncan throws an off balance right hand
and Anderson counters with a nice uppercut.


It looks like Trent Duncan has been cut.
Duncan darts in trying to clinch
and Anderson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Anderson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Duncan paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Anderson drops Duncan with a beautiful combination! Duncan stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Anderson is looking for the KO!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Duncan seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Anderson shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Duncan is backing up but Anderson catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Duncan covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Anderson Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Anderson!
A determined John Anderson didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
